Following the success of Happy Mondays and Black Grape, Shaun William Ryder embarks on new solo project ‘SWR’ – the title derived from his initials.  Initially working on demos with musicians Dan Broad (Happy Mondays/Black Grape) on keyboards and Mikey Shine (Black Grape) on bass they went on to play their first show at the new Factory Club in Manchester in 2012.  After this Shaun embarked on songwriting working towards creating the album which was recorded over an eight week period between Manchester UK and Venice Beach in Los Angeles.  Having previously produced Happy Mondays ‘Uncle Dysfunktional’ album in 2007, esteemed US producer Sunny Levine, son of Stewart Levine (who famously produced the Womack and Womack debut ‘Love Wars’) came on board to work with Shaun on the new songs.  Julie E Gordon (Happy Mondays 2006 – 2009) contributed backing vocals.  The limited edition white label 12 inch AA ‘Close the Dam’/’Electric Scales’ was released on the Something in Construction label in April 2015.  The next single ‘Popstar’s Daughters’  is due for release in February and will be followed by the debut album and live shows in the first half of 2016.
